Hard water itself doesn’t damage the drum coating, but mineral deposits can create a rough surface that traps dyes. The minerals can also bind with dye particles, making them harder to rinse away. If you have hard water, use a water softener or conditioner, and run a descaling cycle monthly with citric acid or a manufacturer-approved descaler to maintain the drum’s smooth, non-porous surface.
